Letter To Us

January 31st 2010,


To us,


Remember those dreams you had? Remember those times you failed? You will get through those times, trust me. You will be turning 18 soon. You have a very hard road ahead. I know because I have taken it.


Do you remember the time when you first went into foster care? Because I sure do. You where a idiot and thought it was one of those happy little adventures. You might make some great friends during your adventure, but you have great heartbreak too.


I will be blunt. You need to know the truth. And it is up to you if you believe any of it. 


In your first foster home at 12 you lost your grandmother. You fought so hard to go see her one last time. Though you thought your foster mother was evil and had hated her for making you miss seeing your grandmother one last time just because she did not believe your mother was telling the truth. You will come to understand it and forgive her. You will even come to visit her again at one point.


After your grandmother died you just had to leave and go into your second foster home. You screwed that up too though you made it out of foster care for a year. But because you refused to go to school once you got home you were place back into foster care. You could have gone back to Diana's. She was nice to you, but sense her daughters where mean you decided a different home was best. It was not.


Were you not wanting to go back because of those girls? Or was it because you thought adventure would come your way again? Well it sure did. The dark and evil adventure of Jan's. A foster mother who should have never been able to get her hands on you or anyone else.


But you where brave young one. You refused her and her control. You finally got out even if you where sent to a children's home that locked you in your room. You made a great friend there and I'm sorry to say to this day you still have not found Monica Young. You miss her and wish she could be found. Maybe one day though. Don't ever give up on that.


Finally you brake free again from that home. You end up at your fourth foster home. It was better for the most part sense you lived right across the river from your mom's house. You would sneak over every now and again to hang out with your friends.


Though that day came that you would regret. July 3rd, 2002 you where sent to another place called Gateway Woods Children's Home. You left a friend behind. A dear friend. One you would never forget and miss dearly.


At Gateway Woods you learned so many things. Your house parents would help you dearly. Keep them close because you will need them your whole life. Even if it's just to talk to them over the phone. 


You will soon be 18. It's only a couple weeks before your birthday now. Don't worry you will go home January 9th of this coming year. But the road you have taken is not the worst by far.


Here come the warnings. The things you must change. The only thing you have ever wanted to change in this long road of hardships has and will ever be your father's death. Convince him to get his surgery before it's to late. If he does not get the surgery to amputate his leg and only tries to save it, he will die. He will go in for a 2nd surgery to do what was suppose to be done in the first place, but the outcome will not be good. If you do what I say our father might live to see you marry even though that has yet to come.


If you don't save your father at least give him lots of hugs and kisses. Make sure to visit him as often as you can. I know you hate going to the nursing home, but it can't be helped.


If I can foresee the outcome, our father will still die. He is stubborn. You tried to convince him before, even so he will be very deeply missed.


After being out of Gateway Woods for a while you have gotten very depressed and gain all the weight you lost back. It's hard on you and we will struggle with ourself to lose this weight.


But skip ahead to now, the end of January 2010. After over 7 years you have found your lost friend who you left behind when you went to Gateway Woods. He is now your boyfriend. Did you even think you would be dating Damein? You went out on your first date yesterday. You had all but given up on finding a guy. Then Damein walked in. He is still as cute as you remember from high school. You find out he had had a crush on you as well. You love him deeply even if you are refined and shy.


But that's not all. Remember that story you started back in 2004? We have found a wonderful artist and even a publisher. Even though the publisher is still taking their sweet time you have high hopes for your story. The artist is the best you have ever found or will ever find. You will know this artist when you see their work. Something will just click with this artist. I won't tell you what the artist's name is because you truly where not ready for publishing your story until now.


You are also living in Marion, Indiana, after being homeless for a while. It's been two years almost sense you moved here. You are close to your family. You have made new friends and lost some along the way. You even run a club at the library called "The Anime Society". Can you believe how much you have achieved? You have 10 animals that you own and love. Well actually 11 because Star had her first baby a couple weeks ago and Kit is expecting.


See your life is not to bad at all. Though you suffer loss and will still lose a lot, you will always bounce back. Just try hard to achieve your dreams and they will come true. We must work hard from now on.
